Ryan McSwain
I’m an author and a stay-at-home dad, meaning I have an amazing wife, two wonderful kids, and more story ideas than time to write.
In a former life I was a youth pastor–a rewarding experience–but it was time to move on. I’ve been writing fiction for a long time, but now I’m ready to share it with people. This is an exciting and terrifying time for me, and you can keep up with my journey on this blog.
If we get to hang out, you can expect to play board games, watch cult movies, discuss great comic books, and argue which Star Trek series is the best–Deep Space Nine, in case you were wondering.
As for books, I love Philip K. Dick, Spider Robinson’s Callahan series, D.B. Weiss’ Lucky Wander Boy, Joseph Heller, Patricia McKillip’s Riddle-Master Trilogy, J.D. Salinger, Michael Moorcock, Thomas Pynchon, Douglas Adams, William S. Burroughs, Neil Gaiman, James Joyce, Carson McCullers, Robert McCammon, William Faulkner, L. Frank Baum, and, oh, so many more.
What else? I value my friends. I know a little coin magic. I keep a dream journal and built a dream machine. I have a secret password in case I ever go back in time and need to prove to myself I’m me. I have a collection of Mystery Science Theater 3000. I don’t get brain freezes.
